Day 8: short term goals for this month and why

Gee, what a strange prompt...
I guess play hard in my game on Saturday against Mesa. It's our season closer and our last home game. I'm going to be playing on broken ribs so we'll see how that goes and I haven't practiced for a few weeks so that will also be interesting.
I'm also hoping to successfully apply to a few more jobs and get at least one. If I don't get one I'm kinda screwed but oh well, life happens.
I'm also thinking I'm going to have to move in with my grandmother this summer as opposed to living in the apartments like I was planning to.
I guess the only other thing would be to complete my finals well and get back into the weight room/practicing so that I can merk next year on the field.

Day 7: a picture of someone/something that has had the biggest impact on you

This is a super old photo but I thought it was perfect. This is both a someone and a something that have a massive impact on my life. This is my youth group leader from high school, Zack Weingartner. I've know him since I was a freshman and he is super important to me. This picture was taken on the way to New Orleans in  Jan. of my senior year. Zack was responsible for showing me what true love in the name of Christ looks like and he definitely has helped instill my value of the underdog. Many of my career choices and moral decision have been made because of things Zack taught me, showed me or put me in the situation to learn. New Orleans has shaped a lot of who I am and daily influences decision I make. If it weren't for Zack or New Orleans (which wouldn't have happened without Zack) my life would probably be drastically different.

I think every decision we make influences our lives for ever, but I think it's rare that you can specifically pick a certain event or moment that significantly changed the course of your destiny. I'm not talking about knowing that a butterfly in Brazil can cause a hurricane in India. I'm talking about knowing that an earthquake in Japan causes a tsunami in China. A very large event that causes a very large reaction. I think being able to have those moments and experiences makes you very special and I think they are few and far between. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to point to at least a handful of events and people that have cause tsunami's per say in my life. Zack and NOLA have hands down been the catalysts for the most drastic changes in my life's trajectory.

Day 6: Favorite superhero and why

My favorite super hero would probably be Captain Planet. Not because I'm super green or into saving the planet or anything, but because it's really the only superhero show I grew up watching. I wasn't allowed to watch Batman or Spiderman or other shows like that because my mom thought they had too much violence in them. Captain Planet wasn't like that. Have you ever met a tree hugging violent person? Nope... Didn't think so.

I always wanted one of those cool rings and remember LOVING the show when I was a kid. I kinda want to go watch an old episode to see if it really was any good.

Day 5: A picture of somewhere you've been

This is the center of downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter. I spend every  summer here helping the homeless and have even taken a nap on a bench in park right there next to that statue. Also, I ran into the family from "Little People, Big World" in the huge Catholic Church in the background that looks like it's from Disneyland. I can't wait to go back and I miss it so much.
